Our commitment

Tempeo Construction Solutions Limited, trading as Tempeo Trades & Labour, does not tolerate modern slavery, forced labour, debt bondage or human trafficking, in our own business or in our supply chain. We expect the same of the clients we supply and the suppliers we use.

Why this matters in our sector

Construction labour supply carries real risk. Temporary work, cash pressure, workers new to the country, and long chains of subcontracting are exactly the conditions exploitation relies on. An agency that pays without looking, or that lets a third party speak for a worker, is part of the problem whether it means to be or not.

What we actually do

• We check right to work for every worker, before they are put forward, and we keep the record.
• We pay workers directly, into a bank account in their own name. We do not pay wages to a third party, an intermediary, or an account belonging to someone else.
• We never charge a worker a fee for finding them work. Not for registration, not for a card, not for an introduction.
• We do not retain original identity documents. Nobody's passport sits in our office.
• We speak to the worker. If someone else consistently answers for a candidate, arranges their work and controls their money, that is a warning sign and we treat it as one.
• Payroll runs through Tempeo Pay, our own sister company, rather than an intermediary we cannot see inside. We know what every operative is paid because our own group pays them.

Warning signs we look for

• Several workers sharing one bank account, address or phone number
• A third party registering, speaking for, or transporting a group of workers
• A worker who cannot say what they are paid, or who seems unsure whether they receive it
• Reluctance to discuss accommodation or travel arrangements
• Signs that a worker is not free to leave an assignment

Where we see these, we stop and look properly rather than filling the booking. If we believe somebody is being exploited we will report it, to the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority, to the Modern Slavery Helpline on 08000 121 700, or to the police.

Our people

Consultants are briefed on what exploitation looks like in this trade and on what to do when something does not sit right. The instruction is simple: raise it, and never let a filled order matter more than a worker.
