What a good one looks like
Categories matter more than experience claims. A 360 ticket does not cover a telehandler, and above ten tonnes is a different category again. A good operator also looks after the machine, and a plant hire bill that stops climbing is usually the first sign you have one.
It is also where the pay rate earns its keep. Good people have a choice of sites, so the rate you set decides who is willing to take the job. We show you that rate and add £25, which means you can raise it without our margin moving with it.

- Lift supervisor or appointed person for lifting duties
What moves the rate
- Machine category and size
- Whether lifting duties are involved
- Site hours and whether the machine is on hire by the day
- Ticketing depth, since multi carded operators cover more
We do not publish a rate table. Pay moves with the trade, the season and the location, so any figure printed here would be wrong within a month. Ring and we will tell you what the job is genuinely paying today.
